Each owl is carefully hand carved and kiln dried. No chemicals have been used in the finishing process. We do not use varnishes because they come off when the instrument is played. If you prefer a finish, you might use lemon oil, olive oil or mineral oil.
Wood carving is a cottage industry in Thailand, using monkey-pod or jackfruit wood. The fast growing tropical trees are harvested after they no longer bear fruit. New trees are planted in their place to guarantee a sustainable harvest. Hand carved in Thailand, this wonderful whistle measures 5 inches high by about 3 inches wide.
